Mel is the founder of Track Minnesota. He has coached youth track for over 15 years including 5 years as sprint coach at the high school level and has been the assistant football coach at Blake High School for five years. Mel's collegiate career included four seasons of football and track at the University of Minnesota. His professional football career included seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. Mel owns and operates Maximim Multi-Services Corp.

Dawn is a former high school and college All-American sprinter. She attended Purdue University where she was named Academic All Big Ten several times during her outstanding career. She has coached Track Minnesota athletes for 7 years.

Jack began his track and field career running on championship St. Louis Park High School teams coached by the legendary Roy Griak. Jack was an assistant coach at St. Cloud State College, head track and cross country coach at St. Cloud Tech High School and Mounds View High School. Currently Jack is General Manager at Barnett Chrysler and is in his seventh season with Track Minnesota.

Coach Sam is a graduate of Minneapolis North High School where she excelled in both track and cross country. She was named All City, All State and All American. She continued her distance running success at the University of Minnesota and Golden Valley Lutheran College.

Coach Byron was an outstanding track athlete at the University of Cincinnati where he specialized in the intermediate hurdlers. He also served as assistant track coach at the University of Cincinnati. Currently Dr. Hill is an executive with Honeywell.

Tara attended Seton Hall where she received many accolades as a student athlete. She was named Big East Athlete of the Year, an honor roll student Big East Champion and All American track athlete. Coach Tara has been on the track Minnesota staff for 7 years. Currently she owns and operates Watson Chiropractic Clinic.

Coach Steven is in his third season with Track Minnesota, coaching the shot put, discus and javelin. Originally from Detroit, he was an excellent high school and college thrower. Coach Steven says he enjoyed competing and is looking forward to helping young throwers experience success in our sport.

Coach Hill, in her third year with Track Minnesota, was an outstanding sprinter and hurdler at the University of Oklahoma, setting a school record in the 60 meter high hurdles that still stands. She will share her enthusiasm and expertise with our young hurdlers and sprinters.

Coach "U" originally from Nigeria competed in track and field at Bloomington Kennedy where he dominated the jumping events and still holds the school triple jump record. He has coached at Mankato State University, Bloomington Kennedy, Mankato East and Roosevelt High School. This is coach U's third year as Track Minnesota's jump coach.

Coach Buchanan grew up in South Minneapolis where he was a standout in basketball and track and later worked as a fitness trainer. He now works in the real estate field focusing on project development and management. He says volunteering with Track Minnesota gives him a chance to get back to his roots and pass his passion for fitness and nutrition on to others.

Coach Turner excelled in both the long jump and triple jump at the University of Arkansas. He is skilled at teaching technique to young jumpers as well as helping advanced jumpers to maximize their abilities. Derrell is an administrator with Minnesota Division of the Federal Highway Administration and is in his second year with Track Minnesota.

Coach Love was an All-American long jumper as well as an excellent sprinter. He is a 2007 graduate of Drake University with a major in computer science. Decarlos is in his third season with Track Minnesota and coaches the horizontal jumpers and sprinters.
